Using Orca One

These terms govern your use of Orca One, a macOS dictation, meeting capture, transcription, and note-taking application operated by DigitalCarbon Inc. By using Orca One, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.

Product usage measurement

Orca One records limited pseudonymous product usage as part of operating and improving the app, including installation, setup progress, first successful dictation, trial progress and purchase checkpoints. Core funnel measurement is automatic and does not depend on an ad campaign or the optional diagnostics setting. Daily launches and feature use are collected only while Share diagnostics is enabled, alongside crash reports and optional technical error reports. We do not collect your audio, transcripts, notes or other content through usage analytics. The Privacy Policy describes the identifiers, event categories, recipients and delivery retention.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for how you use Orca One and for complying with applicable laws. Before recording or transcribing other people, you must obtain any notice or consent required in your location and theirs. You may not use Orca One to violate another person's rights or to conduct unlawful activity.

Your content and local data

You retain ownership of the content you create. Orca One stores its working data locally on your Mac. You are responsible for protecting your device and maintaining any backups you need. Removing the app or losing access to your Mac may result in loss of local data.

Trial, purchase, and license

Orca One includes a free trial covering 2,000 words for dictation, plus three Notetaker recordings (including voice notes). Continued capture beyond each allowance requires a license. The regular price is $59.99 USD for a one-time lifetime purchase. The early access offer is limited to 20 redemptions. While available, it automatically applies a $20 USD discount at checkout, bringing the price to $39.99 USD, plus any applicable tax. After the offer ends, new purchases cost $59.99 USD, plus any applicable tax. The price is shown before checkout. It is not a subscription and has no recurring fee.

A license may receive a device-bound receipt for one Mac. The receipt is tied to the device identity that requested it. Reinstalling Orca One on that Mac keeps the same activation; replacing the Mac or its device identity requires support to move the license. Keep your license code and activated-device backup secure.

Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable law and our support determination. A full refund, payment dispute, chargeback, or license revocation blocks new activations and re-downloads of receipts. Because activated receipts work offline, we may be unable to remotely invalidate a receipt already stored on a Mac.

Optional integrations

Optional integrations are subject to their providers' terms and policies. You may disconnect them at any time. The Privacy Policy explains what connected-service data Orca One accesses and how it is used, stored, and deleted.

Software changes and availability

We may update, add, or remove features as the product develops. We may also suspend or end availability of Orca One. We do not promise that every feature will always be available or error-free.

Orca One is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law. Transcriptions and generated summaries may contain errors and should be reviewed before you rely on or share them. Orca One is not a substitute for professional legal, medical, financial, or other advice.
